National election: What’s happening in Old Dhaka?

The 12th national election voting is currently underway in three constituencies of Old Dhaka (Dhaka-4, Dhaka-6, and Dhaka-7).

During the morning, voter turnout was reported as low at the centers, but local politicians and voters are optimistic that it will increase as the day progresses.

Prakash Chandra Sarker, the presiding officer at Wari’s Silverdale Preparatory and Girls’ High School center, assured that everything is normal at the polling center.

A local leader from the ruling party predicted that voter turnout would rise after 11am.

Voters at the Mahuttuli Government Boys and Girls High School center expressed their satisfaction about casting their votes.

A local councillor mentioned to Dhaka Tribune that people are expected to vote spontaneously, and voters expressed hope that the government will work to stabilize kitchen markets after the election.

Candidates in these constituencies are expected to cast their votes by 11:30 am. In total, there are 879,228 voters in the three constituencies of Old Dhaka.
