Dhallywood actor Mahiya Mahi, who ran as an independent candidate with the Truck symbol for the Rajshahi-1 constituency, lost her security deposit.
Two days later, the Dhallywood actor opened up about her experience regarding the election in a live session on her Facebook page and said: "Even though I lost the election battle, I have not broken down. I think participating in the election as a woman itself is appreciable."
Mentioning that the election was fair, she said the administration gave maximum cooperation. She said this on Facebook Live on Monday night.
"Everyone might think I am very upset. Of course, I feel a bit down because I lost in the election game. I am slightly upset, but it is not too severe. In every situation, I prepare for the negative outcome first. I was mentally prepared for every situation," she said.
The actress called on the newly elected Member of Parliament and her opponent in the constituency Omar Faruk Chowdhury, urging him to accomplish in the next five years the developmental works that were not done in the last 15 years.
She said: "In the last 15 years, the popularity of the newly elected MP has dropped. I hope he regains it in the next five years. I am still active in this field. If not, we will face each other in the next election in five years. His current popularity is zero. The votes he received were due to the Boat symbol, so there's no real cause for celebration."
Mahiya Mahi promised to transform women's homes into workplaces and encourage the youth to become entrepreneurs.
She recognized the difficulty of implementing these plans on a large scale by herself rather than with government assistance. Nevertheless, she spoke about her commitment to making substantial efforts through personal initiatives.
In the Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore) constituency, the Awami League nominated candidate Omar Faruk Chowdhury won again with 103,592 votes. His nearest rival Golam Rabbani, received 92,419 votes with the Scissor symbol. Actor Mahiya Mahi received only 9,009 votes and did not get any votes in 17 polling stations, therefore losing her deposit.
