A video of Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, also the Awami League candidate for Magura-1 constituency, slapping a man has gone viral on social media.
Dhaka Tribune could not verify the timing of the incident. Multiple online media outlets reported that the incident took place on the polls day.
When Shakib went to a polling station on the polling day on Sunday, someone from the crowd grabbed him from behind and pulled his shirt, according to the media reports.

At one stage, the cricket lost his temper and slapped the man. Some on social media claim that the incident occurred a week ago.
Shakib Al Hasan cast his vote at Darimagura Government Primary School polling centre in Magura on Sunday. He went to the centre with his father, sister and close relatives at 7:55am.
He waited outside for five minutes as the voting had not yet begun. Shakib and his family members cast their votes immediately after the voting started.
He later said: "I hope everyone will vote safely in a festive atmosphere. Voting is a civil right. No one will be deprived of this right.”
In response to a question about his confidence in winning, Shakib said: "I have tried my best. I am hopeful about winning. However, the rest will be known after the election results are out."
