Flesh pieces sent to the forensic laboratory to confirm the assumption

Update : 29 May 2024, 04:34 PM

West Bengal CID recovered around four kilograms of flesh in a septic tank at Sanjeeva Garden of Kolkata on Tuesday.

Primarily, it is believed to be the body parts of murdered Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

Siddheshwar Mandal, a witness and housing sewage system worker, said the pieces of flesh were kept in a glass jar in salted water.

Jihad Howladar flushed the pieces through a commode of a washroom of the flat. Jihad was earlier arrested in connection with the murder.

The recovered flesh pieces have been sent to the forensic laboratory to confirm the assumption.

A source of the Detective Branch who went to Kolkata to investigate the murder of MP Anar confirmed the information to the media.

The Jhenaidah-4 MP crossed the Darshana-Gede border into India for treatment on May 12. He stayed at his friend Gopal Biswas’s home in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The following day, he left to see a doctor at noon and was expected to return in the evening. However, a WhatsApp message from his phone to Biswas stated that he went to Delhi instead and would call if necessary.

Since then, he could not be reached by phone. Eventually, the government confirmed his death on May 22, citing Indian police.
