Update : 03 Jun 2024, 09:29 PM

Mumtarin Ferdoush Dorin, daughter of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, will go to Kolkata soon for a DNA test to confirm whether the recovered flesh belongs to her father.

Dorin received her Indian visa on Monday.

She had been delayed in travelling due to visa complications, and it is not yet confirmed when Dorin will depart for India.

The day it was reported that MP Anar had been murdered in Kolkata, his daughter Dorin and MP Anar’s personal assistant Abdur Rauf applied for Indian visas right on the day his murder was reported in Kolkata. However, they had been unable to travel due to not receiving visas.

On Tuesday, pieces of around 4kgs of flesh were recovered from the septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens in Kolkata. A DNA test is needed to determine if they belong to MP Anar, requiring Dorin to travel to Kolkata.

On May 29 in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah, Dorin told reporters: "They were supposed to give me my visa. They said a text would come, and once received, they might give me my passport today. I will go to India as soon as I get my visa."

The Jhenaidah-4 MP crossed the Darshana-Gede border into India for treatment on May 12. He stayed at his friend Gopal Biswas’s home in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The following day, he left to see a doctor at noon and was expected to return in the evening. However, a WhatsApp message from his phone to Biswas stated that he went to Delhi instead and would call if necessary.

Since then, he could not be reached by phone. Eventually, the government confirmed his death on May 22, citing Indian police.
