BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of Kazi Shahid Ahmed, a pioneer of modern journalism in Bangladesh.
In the condolence message on Monday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir described Kazi Shahid Ahmed as a beacon of modern journalism during the 1990s, aligning with the yearnings of the Bangladeshi people for free thinking.
“I extend my condolences to the bereaved family over the death of Kazi Shahid Ahmed, publisher of Ajker Kagoj and founder of Gemcon Group.”
In his condolence message, he mentioned that Kazi Shahid Ahmed is a thriving businessman as well as a respectable father. “May Allah give his family the strength to overcome this grief.”
Kazi Shahid Ahmed breathed his last at 7:15pm on Monday. He was 82.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Dhanmondi Road 7 Mosque after Zuhr prayer and the second one at Gulshan Azad mosque after the Asr prayer on Tuesday.
Then, the renowned entrepreneur will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard, according to family sources.
