Update : 01 Mar 2024, 08:58 PM

Bangladesh showbiz celebrities on Friday took to their social media handles to mourn and express their concern over the Bailey Road fire tragedy that took the lives of 46 people on Thursday night.

Dhallywood's Superstar Shakib Khan expressed his grief on his Facebook profile.

He wrote: “Many would have enjoyed some happy times there with their loved ones days before Thursday's horrible fire event. Some spent their leisure time shopping or dining with relatives. But in an instant, so many bright lives have been put on hold by the terrible fire catastrophe. Numerous people have lost family members, and many more now face a very uncertain future! Companies that were gradually and laboriously established have closed. Numerous lives have been prematurely lost due to fire disasters, and the loss cannot be restored in any way. A detailed inquiry into these occurrences is required. I congratulate the firefighters for continually facing such unanticipated accidents and risking their lives for the good of the common people! I pray for the departed souls of the Bailey Road fire tragedy to rest in peace and for the speedy recovery of those in distress at the hospital. May the Almighty grant strength to all the grieving families."

Chanchal Chowdhury was shocked by this tragic incident. He just shared a before-after picture of the gutted building and wrote: “Alas! Bailey Road!”

Actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba wrote in his Facebook timeline: “Condolences to the victims of the Bailey Road fire. May Allah give strength to all the families to bear this grief.”

Another actor Mehazabien Chowdhury shared a list of the names of the victims and prayed for their eternal peace.

Actor Ashna Habib Bhabna wrote: “These 46 individuals were someone's only protector, their sibling, brother, father, mother, loved one, or close friend! Alas! A burning smell has enveloped Dhaka. How much do life and death differ from one another?”

Small screen actor Tawsif Mahbub talked about the origin of the fire. He wrote: “Ever-sparkling Bailey Road has turned into a blazing cottage! While watching the video, I understood that the source of the fire wasn't from Kachchi Bhai, but from the ground floor!"

Actor Zahara Mitu expressed her sadness and concern over the tragedy. She wrote: "One incident follows another, from Bailey Road to Nimtoli, from Bangabazar to New Market. We will relive the excitement of moments such as the Emperor's concert or the BPL final at the end of transitory times. However, we might overlook the fact that we could have also been a victim yesterday! It is high time to get ready to survive fire accidents. The growth of fire services is necessary. Every owner of a structure should be informed. It will not accomplish anything if I just write or say these things."
