Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko has sent a condolence message regarding the loss of lives and damages caused by the Bailey Road building fire.
“I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the large-scale fire at a shopping-mall in Dhaka last night," he wrote in the message sent to his counterpart, Dr Hasan Mahmud, on Saturday.
"I send my prayers to the victims and offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the people and the Government of Bangladesh," read the message.
At least 46 people were killed, and over 20 others sustained severe injuries by a devastating fire on Thursday night.

Firefighters rescued 70 people, including 42 in unconscious state, from the rooftop and different floors of the seven-storey Green Cozy Cottage.
A case was filed by police on Friday night.
Police on Saturday detained the manager of the Green Cozy Cottage building in connection with the fire in the capital’s Bailey Road area.
Hamimul Haque Bipul, the manager of the building owner, was detained from Dhanmondi.
Earlier, three others -- Anwarul Haque and Shafiqur Rahman Rimon, owners of Chumuk restaurant, and Md Jisan, manager of Kacchi Bhai restaurant were detained.
