A massive fire engulfed Dhaka's New Supermarket on Saturday morning, damaging hundreds of shops. The fire service reached the spot at 5:40am and managed to bring the flames under control at 9:10am after three and a half hours of frantic efforts. Shop owners hurried there after hearing the news of the fire, trying to salvage as many goods as they could, with many breaking down in tears upon seeing their shops go up in flames.
