People have started to collect scraps from Bangabazar Shopping Complex which was completely razed in a devastating fire last week.
Police at one point charged batons on people as they created chaos over collecting scraps from the ruins. The contractor, appointed by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), has yet to clear the area that saw a massive fire on April 4. It took over three days to douse the fire completely.
The DSCC says there were 2,961 shops in the six tin-shed markets at Bagabazar. The traders, however, claim that there were over 5,000 shops
