Arambagh get two-year ban from Premier League for match fixing and online betting

According to a press release on Sunday, BFF said the club will not be allowed to play in the Premier Division for next two years and must deposit tk five lacs to its bank account within one month

Bangladesh Football Federation has demoted Arambagh Krira Sangha from Premier Division to First Division for two years after finding their involvement in match fixing and online betting.

According to a press release on Sunday, BFF said the club will not be allowed to play in the Premier Division for next two years and must deposit tk five lacs to its bank account within one month.

BFF took the decision on their meeting on 26th August.

Earlier, BFF formed a committee to investigate the match fixing following a letter of Asian Football Federation and the committee found clear proof of Arambagh involved in match fixing and online betting.

As per the decision of the BFF meeting the club will not get the promotion in next two years to Premier League but will be demoted to lower leagues if they finish the seasons in relegation zone.

Club’s former President and the owner of its chief patron M Sport’s owner Minhazul Islam Minhaz, former manager Gowher Jahangir, former assistant manager Arif Hossain and former fitness trainer- an Indian citizen- Maidul Islam Sheikh got lifetime ban from BFF.

Several other players and coaching stuff - an Australian, a Nigerian, four Indians and local players- got ban for two to 10 years.
