Coke Studio Bangla opens Season 4 with Nazrul tribute track

The fourth season will feature eight songs

Update : 23 May 2026, 09:50 PM

Coke Studio Bangla has launched its fourth season with a special tribute to national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, unveiling a reimagined version of his iconic composition “Room Jhoom” ahead of his birth anniversary on May 24.

The opening track has been presented as an act of cultural remembrance, celebrating Nazrul’s enduring musical legacy through a contemporary arrangement that bridges traditions across regions.

Originally inspired by the Ottoman-Turkish folk song “Üsküdar’a Gider İken,” “Room Jhoom” was adapted by Nazrul into a Bengali monsoon-themed poetic expression. In its latest reinterpretation, Coke Studio Bangla reconnects the song with its cross-cultural roots by blending South Asian and Turkish musical influences into a contemporary composition.

The collaboration brings together Bangladeshi artists Mahtim Shakib and Nusrat Jahan alongside Turkish musicians Elif Hande Cevgel and Mustafa Ipek, creating a fusion of sounds that reflects the song’s global journey.

The track also marks Mahtim Shakib’s debut appearance on Coke Studio Bangla while introducing Nusrat Jahan as a new voice on the platform.

According to the organizers, the fourth season will feature eight songs, each exploring distinct emotional and musical themes through diverse sonic traditions and contemporary reinterpretations.
