Center for Research and Information (CRI), the research wing of the ruling Awami League, will showcase the history of the party through 10 installations at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan, venue of the party National Council.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the two-day 21st council of the ruling party at 3pm on Friday.
CRI Coordinator Tonmoy Ahmed said a number of CRI corners have already been set up at the venue to display the history of the party and its prominent leaders.
One of the corners, “Walk with Leader,” will display photos of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and grandson Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy.
At the “Face of ALBD” corner, portraits of Bangabandhu, Hasina and the four national leaders of the 1971 wartime government — Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, M Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman — will be on display.
At the “Road to 21st Council” board, the party’s history since its birth in June 1949 will be displayed for councillors and guests, while the “Light after Darkness” section will depict the August 15, 1975 assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members, said Tonmoy.
Another significant corner, named “7th March,” will display quotes from Bangabandhu’s historic speech delivered at a rally at the then Ramna Race Course ground, now Suhrawardy Udyan, on March 7, 1971.
Activities of the various sub-committees formed after the last council in 2016 and events organized by CRI with Sheikh Hasina and her son Joy, who is also the prime minister’s ICT affairs adviser, will be displayed at the “ALBD Regional Footprints” corner.
“ALBD - In front of a Mirror” will display a detailed view of the history of the Awami League.
“A New ERA - Part 1” will present the life story of Bangabandhu, and “A New ERA - Part 2” will tell the story of his elder daughter Hasina.
The “Quotes for Future Leadership” corner will present quotes from different speeches of Bangabandhu and Hasina for council attendees.
CRI will also hold its signature event “Let’s Talk” at the council venue with youths from different universities. Documentaries will also be screened in the hall room.
