A suspected robber has been beaten to death by a mob in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj.
The incident took place in Goakara area of Bulla union of Lakhai at midnight on Tuesday.
The deceased was Hiraj Mia, 45, son of Jorj Mia of Dhal village of Habiganj Sadar.
Lakhai police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Khair said that around 12am, a group of men on motorcycles were robbing in the area. At that time, the villagers chased Hiraj Mia and started beating him up.
Police rescued him when he was critically injured from the mob beating and sent him to the 250-bed Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.
After examination, the duty doctor declared Hiraj dead.
There are 12 robbery cases against the deceased in different police stations, the police official said.
