A businessman was fined Tk3 lakh for making sweets and bakery food in an unhygienic environment in Rangamati on Sunday morning.
The fine was imposed on Hilmoon Sweets' bakery in the city's Reserve Bazar area for storing and selling dirty, foul-smelling food.
Bangladesh Safe Food Authority Executive Magistrate AHM Asif Bin Ikram and District Food Safety Officer Md Muntasir Mahmud conducted the drive.
Md Muntasir Mahmud said: “The Bangladesh Safe Food Authority always conducts anti-adulteration drives. A raid was conducted at a bakery in the city's Reserve Bazar area. During the drive, the bakery was fined Tk3 lakh for making and storing sweets in an unhygienic environment and not conducting business in compliance with hygiene rules.”
He also said that the operation will continue.
