Ad-din Hospital was fined Tk3,00,000 after a joint mobile court drive uncovered multiple irregularities at its Moghbazar facility on Sunday afternoon.
The operation was conducted at Ad-din Medical College and Hospital in Moghbazar and Monowara Hospital on Bailey Road, led by Executive Magistrate Md Aminul Islam.
During the drive, authorities found several violations at Ad-din Medical College Hospital, including unlabeled and spoiled frozen sweets in the canteen refrigerator, unhygienic kitchen conditions, inadequate ventilation and lighting in wards, and the absence of temperature monitoring devices in refrigerators. For these offences, the hospital was fined a total of Tk3 lakh under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and the Safe Food Act, which was immediately realised.
The authorities also warned the hospital management to improve hygiene standards, ensure proper ventilation and lighting, install temperature monitoring devices, upgrade canteen facilities, and relocate the bakery.
A separate mobile court drive was also conducted at Monowara Hospital on Bailey Road, where officials inspected overall management and issued necessary instructions and guidance to the authorities.
During the operation, Assistant Director (Hospitals) of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr Md Mahmudur Rahman, DSCC Zone-1 Health Officer Dr Faria Foez, Safe Food Inspector Md Aslam Bhuiyan, members of Ramna Police Station, and other officials and staff of the city corporation were present and assisted in the drive.
DSCC said such joint and regular drives in the public interest will continue in the future.
