A 16-year-old boy has attempted to rape a 7-year-old girl in Chatalpara village under Companiganj upazila in Sylhet.
Police arrested the accused on Monday evening, said Companiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Nazrul.

Quoting locals, Nazrul said the child's parents went to a village doctor with their another ill child for treatment on Saturday evening. Finding the child alone at home, the 16-year-old boy attempted to rape her.

"After being informed, police detained the boy from Chatalpara village with the help of locals on Monday evening. A case will be filed in this regard." said the police official.
"The girl has been admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College and Hospital, the OC added.
