Chinese national Li Chong Yong, who sustained critical injuries in a collision involving a private car on the 300-Feet Road in Rupganj, Narayanganj, on May 27, died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday.
The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
According to sources, Li was employed at a private company in the Baganbari area of Madhabdi upazila in Narsingdi, where he also resided.
His colleague, Ruhul Amin, said Li was travelling to Madhabdi on a scooter on May 27 when a speeding private car struck him, leaving him critically injured. He was rescued and taken to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where he later died while receiving treatment.
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Raihanul Islam of Bhatara Police Station said police recovered the body from Evercare Hospital in the Bashundhara Residential Area after being informed of the death. Upon completion of the necessary legal procedures, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The officer said preliminary findings indicate that Li died from injuries sustained in the road accident. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received.
