Four more children die with measles symptoms in Sylhet division

Death toll rises to 51 as 295 suspected measles patients receive treatment at hospitals across the division

In the last 24 hours, four more children undergoing treatment at hospitals died with measles symptoms, raising the death toll in the division to 51. Currently, 295 patients with measles symptoms are admitted to different government and private hospitals.

The information was revealed in the “Measles and Rubella Patient Report 2026” bulletin published by the office of the Sylhet Divisional Director of Health on Saturday.

The four children who died in the last 24 hours were identified as Abid, 10-month-old son of Sabul Mia from Fenchuganj upazila, Arabi Ahmad, 15-month-old son of Rafiqul Islam from Shahporan police station area in Sylhet Sadar upazila, Nafi Islam, five-month-old son of Faruk Mia from Sreemangal in Moulvibazar, and Niloy Roy, six-month-old son of Nipesh Roy from Dirai upazila in Sunamganj.

During the last 24 hours, 43 new patients were admitted to hospitals. Among them, 14 each were admitted to Sylhet Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital and Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, while 15 were admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital.

At present, 295 suspected measles patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the division, including 89 at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital and 58 at Osmani Medical College Hospital.
