Shibchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and 53 others have tested positive for Covid-19 in Madaripur, taking the total number of infected to 350 people in the district.
The districts health department collected samples of 25 people including that of UNO Md Asaduzzaman on Monday from Shibchar upazila and of them 17 tested positive, said Dr Shashank Chandra Ghosh, health and family planning officer of Shibchar upazila.
The district's Deputy Commissioner Md Wahidul Islam said: "UNO Md Asaduzzaman was on the frontlines in the district's fight against Covid-19. Test reports of 54 more people came back as positive in the past 24 hours. The district's coronavirus prevention committee will hold a meeting on Sunday, and we will discuss if the district would be put under lockdown once more."
