Temperature may rise further

There is a possibility of rain on May 12 or 13

Update : 09 May 2019, 11:38 AM

There will be no relief from the sweltering heat as temperatures may rise further in the next two days, the Met Office says.

Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorology Department, said: “A mild-to-moderate heat wave is sweeping over the country.”

He said the temperature may rise further over the next two days but there is a possibility of rain on May 12 or 13.

Thursday’s highest temperature was recorded at 39.5˚C in Rajshahi and the lowest was 22.8˚C in Sylhet. In Dhaka, the maximum temperature was 35.8˚C.

In its forecast, the Met Office also said the mild-to-moderate heat wave—sweeping over Khulna division and parts of Bangladesh—will continue.

However, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squalling winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours till 6pm on Friday, it added.
