Mahabubur Rahman has joined as new commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), replacing the outgoing chief, Iqbal Bahar.
The new commissioner, when addressing a meeting at the CMP headquarters on Tuesday, directed all members of the CMP to work to establish the rule of law.
With a view to purging the country of the curse of extremism and substance abuse, the police should expedite the ongoing countrywide drives against drugs and militancy, he said.
