The health authorities in Bangladesh recorded one death from Covid-19 and 28 infections in the 24 hours to Wednesday morning.
Besides, another 546 patients recovered from the infectious disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest additions took the country’s death toll to 29,127, the total caseload to 1,952,440, and the total number of recoveries to 1,892,074.
A total of 5,098 samples were tested at 879 labs across the country during the 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 0.55%.
In March this year, the country reported 85 Covid-linked deaths and 8,000 new cases while 66,639 patients recovered from the disease, according to the DGHS.
Among the 85 deaths during the period, 44 patients were unvaccinated, 11 were vaccinated with the first dose, 28 with the second dose, and two with the third dose.
The country reported its first zero Covid-related death in a single day on November 20 last year, along with 178 infections - since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.
On January 28, Bangladesh logged its previous highest daily positivity rate at 33.37% reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.
Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.
Meanwhile, the overall number of Covid cases has now surged past 505 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 505,893,847 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,202,920 Wednesday morning.
The US has recorded 80,732,919 cases so far and 989,328 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,045,527 on Tuesday, with 1,247 new cases registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the health ministry's latest data.
