The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced an online facility for individual taxpayers to correct and submit revised tax returns.
According to regulations, if the revised return results in an increased tax liability, the taxpayer must pay the additional tax along with a penalty.
This announcement was made in a press release issued by the NBR on Tuesday.
Taxpayers can access this feature by visiting the official website and utilizing the correction option.
The press release said that individuals who mistakenly submitted incorrect information while filing their income tax returns online now have the opportunity to rectify those errors through the online platform.
Furthermore, taxpayers who wish to submit a revised return due to errors in their original filing can now conveniently do so from home using the online system. While this service was previously available only through manual submission, the NBR has now introduced an online facility for filing amended tax returns.
Taxpayers who choose to access the correction option online are required to submit their revised returns accordingly.
The deadline for income tax return submission was extended three times before officially concluding in mid-February.
Additionally, the NBR has already launched a year-round online income tax return submission facility, ensuring continued accessibility for taxpayers beyond Income Tax Day.
