Bangladesh has started the process of building a new embassy in Bhutan's capital of Thimphu on a 1.5-acre land.
Vajra Builders Pvt Ltd will build the complex that will house four buildings – a chancery, an ambassador’s residence, a staff quarter, and a multipurpose hall.
They will complete the construction in 18 months with a cost of 47.20 crore Bhutanese Ngultrum.
The embassy said they signed an agreement with the Vajra Builders on Monday.
Bhutan and Bangladesh gave each other land for the construction of embassies in the capitals.
Bhutan was the first country to recognize the newly independent Bangladesh on December 6, 1971, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
