Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) on Saturday denied media reports claiming that the government is planning to raise gas prices amid the country's ongoing challenges.
In a brief statement issued on Saturday evening, Petrobangla said the reports were unfounded.
"Following recent media reports on a possible gas price hike, we would like to clarify that the government has no plan at this moment to increase gas prices," the statement said.
Petrobangla, the state agency responsible for the exploration, production and management of the country's oil, natural gas and mineral resources, also urged the public and stakeholders not to be misled by such reports.
