Civil Aviation Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal has said Nepalese authorities will hand over bodies of the victims who died in the crash of a plane operated by Bangladeshi airline US-Bangla.
“It will take three days to complete post mortem and then the bodies will be handed over,” Kamal, who is now in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, told a media briefing on Wednesday.
The minister said bodies which were identified would be handed over after post-mortem, and DNA tests were conducted for those bodies which could not be identified.
He said the injured can be taken abroad for better treatment and the Nepalese authorities ensured that they would cooperate on the matter.
Earlier, the minister held meetings with Nepal’s Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Army Chief Gen Rajendra Chhetri over a number of issues including identification of the bodies and handover process and arranging better treatment for the injured.

During the meeting, Nepalese Prime Minister Oli told Shahjahan that he directed hospital authorities to ensure the best treatment for the injured.
He said bodies would be handed over to the relatives after legal procedures.
Nepalese Home Minister Thapa said he would ask doctors to allow relatives to visit their patients in the hospital.
Minister Shahjahan said a medical team from Bangladesh will be dispatched to Nepal soon.
Replying to a query he said three officials from Bangladesh along with Nepal police officials are investigating the cause of the accident. “It would take at least one week,” the minister said.
At least 50 people died as the aircraft carrying 67 passengers and four crew crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown.
