The authorities have announced the reopening of Dhaka City College after being closed indefinitely to prevent student protests demanding the removal of the acting principal, Professor Kazi Neyamul Haque, who was accused of forcibly assuming the position.

The academic activities of the college will resume on Tuesday.

A notice signed by the acting principal, Professor Kazi Neyamul Haque, was issued on Saturday, confirming the decision.

The notice stated that the college would reopen with classes for the 11th grade to begin on the first day.

However, the first semester exams for the 11th grade will not be held.

The next day, November 20, classes for the 12th grade will begin, but the first semester exams for the 12th grade will also be postponed.

Additionally, undergraduate (Honours) and postgraduate (Masters) classes will start on November 21.

Earlier, students began their protests on October 28, demanding the resignation of the acting principal and vice-principal, along with six other demands. To quell the protests, the college authorities issued a notice on November 4, declaring the college closed indefinitely.

Students have alleged that the acting principal, Kazi Neyamul Haque, forcibly removed the legitimate principal and assumed the position, and on the same day, illegally appointed Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman as the acting vice-principal.

The acting principal and vice-principal have been accused of various irregularities, including extorting extra money from students and engaging in other forms of misconduct, which led to the student protests.
