North South University (NSU) celebrated "World Pharmacists Day" on Wednesday, with a special event on its campus to honor pharmacists globally.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the NSU Pharmaceutical Club jointly organized a rally, in line with this year’s theme:

"The Role of Pharmacists in Meeting Global Health Needs," as set by the International Pharmaceutical Federation.

The event was inaugurated by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of NSU, through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and balloon release.

Among other dignitaries present were Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Abdur Rob Khan, Professor Dr Deepak Kumar Mitra, dean of the School of Health and Sciences, Professor Dr Md Mahbubur Rahman, chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Dr Md Syed Uz Zaman, director of Student Affairs.

In their speeches, the chief guest and other dignitaries underscored the importance of pharmacists in the global healthcare system.

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury emphasized the pivotal role of pharmacists and urged students to commit themselves to serving humanity.

The event was coordinated by Junaet Hossain Khan, senior Lecturer and adviser of the NSU Pharmaceutical Club.

The celebration aimed to highlight the contributions of pharmacists, often referred to as the "silent warriors" of healthcare, and to promote greater awareness about expanding their role in healthcare nationwide.
