A seven-member investigation committee has been formed by the administration of Jahangirnagar University following the death of Afsana Karim Rachi, a first-year student (53rd batch) of the Marketing Department, who was hit by a battery-operated rickshaw on the campus.
This was confirmed in an official order signed by the university's Registrar, Dr ABM Azizur Rahman, on Wednesday night.
The university's Proctor, Rashidul Alam, confirmed the information on Thursday.
The committee has been tasked with investigating the cause of Rachi's death and submitting a detailed report with findings and recommendations within the next seven working days.
Meanwhile, the university administration had filed a case against an unknown individual at Ashulia police station, on Wednesday night.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Alok Kumar Dey, the investigating officer of the case at Ashulia police station, said: "The university administration filed the case on Wednesday night. We are trying to identify the driver by reviewing CCTV footage from various locations and gathering information from rickshaw garage owners."
