A Dhaka court has again placed Erfan Selim, son of Awami League MP Haji Md Selim, and his bodyguard Md Zahid on a total of five-day remand in two separate cases.
The cases were filed under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act on October 28.
Two separate magistrates passed the order on Sunday after Chawkbazar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Delowar Hossain, also the investigation officer of the cases, produced them before the court seeking a 14-day remand for interrogation.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Kaisarul Islam granted a three-day remand in the arms case while Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder granted a two-day remand in the narcotics case.
Meanwhile, a new petition has been filed against the remand, seeking bail for the accused.

Earlier on October 28, Erfan and his bodyguard were placed on a three-day remand in a case filed by a navy official.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Asaduzzaman Nur issued the remand order after Dhanmondi police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Md Ashfaq Razib Hasan, the investigation officer of the case, produced Erfan in court, seeking a seven-day remand for interrogation.
Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy filed the case with Dhanmondi police station against four named accused, including Erfan, and several unnamed others. The three other accused are -- AB Siddique Dipu, 45, Md Zahid, 35, and Md Mizanur Rahman, 30. All four are now behind bars.
According to the case statement, on October 26, a private car hit Lt Wasif's motorbike near Labaid Hospital at Dhanmondi around 7:45pm while he and his wife were returning to their Mohammadpur residence from Nilkhet.
After the accident, some people came out of the car and physically assaulted the navy officer and verbally abused his wife.
Later, a Dhaka court sent Mizanur Rahman, driver of Haji Md Selim, to jail.
On October 27, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Erfan from his father’s residence at Devdas Lane in Swarighat in Old Dhaka.
On the same day, a RAB mobile court sentenced Erfan and Zahid to a year in jail for possession of illegal walkie-talkies and liquor.
