Mehedi Hasan Robein, one of the accused in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) student Abrar Fahad murder case, has given his confessional statement before a Dhaka court.
Detective Branch Inspector Md Wahidud Zaman, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Robein before court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain to record his statement under Section 164 on Monday.
After recording his statement, the court sent Robein to jail, reports BSS.
On October 8, the court placed Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Anick Sarrobiker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Sefayetul Islam Zion, Ishtiaq Munna, Khandaker Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Mozahidur Rahman, Moontasir Al Jemy and Mehedi Hasan Robein, on five-day remand.
Of those ten accused, Mozahidur Rahaman, Anick Sarkar Apu, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal and Meftahul Islam Zion already gave confessional statement before different Dhaka courts.
Abrar, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the university, was beaten to death inside the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in the early hours of October 7.
Some Chhatra League leaders of the organization's Buet chapter have been accused of beating him to death for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Abrar's father filed a murder case against 19 people at Chawkbazar police station on the same day of the murder. As of Monday, 19 people have been detained in the case.
