The July mass uprising commemoration event 2026 was held at the auditorium of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with due dignity.
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury graced the occasion as the chief guest while State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque was present as the special guest.
BUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eqramul Hoque presided over the event and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shariful Islam attended as convener, said a press release.
In his speech, the finance and planning minister stated, "The bravery and sacrifice shown by the students and citizens during those turbulent days in July will forever be memorable in our national history. Building Bangladesh envisioned by the martyrs of the July mass uprising is the ultimate tribute we can offer them."
The state minister remarked, "Our young generation has played an impeccable role on the streets as the conscience of the nation during critical moments of the country. Government is currently working to transform the youth into skilled human resources by fostering the brilliance and merit of these students."
During the event, commemorative crests were handed over to the families of July Shaheed Abu Sayed, Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, Md. Ismail Hossain Rabbi, Sheikh Fahmin Jafar and to the father of BUET student Shaheed Abrar Fahad.
