Bahauddin Evan, the lone accused in a case filed over the rape of an actress at his Banani residence, confessed to his crimes on Wednesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury recorded Evan’s confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal procedure (CrPC) and sent him to jail.

Court sources said Evan confessed to his involvement in the rape incident which occurred on Tuesday, July 4, and admitted to the act in the statement.
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector Sultana Akter of Banani police station, also investigation officer of the case, produced Evan before the magistrate with a plea to record his statement, on completion of his four day remand in the case.

Evan, who was arrested from a relative’s house in Narayanganj in connection with the rape case on Thursday, had reportedly lived a decadent life since reaching adolescence.
A Dhaka court on Friday granted police four days to hold Evan in remand, after the investigation officer had produced him before the magistrate’s court with a plea for seven days remand in the case.
