A hotline has been launched to receive complaints regarding rumours, misinformation and disinformation at national, individual and institutional levels.

Complaints can be reported by calling 01308332592 or by emailing [email protected], according to a post shared on the chief adviser’s official Facebook page on Monday.

Earlier, on December 28, Chairman and Chief Adviser of the National Cyber Security Council Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus directed the National Cyber Security Agency to ensure comprehensive cyber security measures ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum.

At the meeting, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, special assistant to the chief adviser in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, said 35 institutions have already been identified as Critical Information Infrastructure, and suggested that more institutions be added to the list.

He also stressed the need for close coordination between the National Cyber Security Agency and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to curb rumours, misinformation, disinformation and other cyber crimes, particularly during the election period.
