Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday forecasts a mild heatwave is sweeping over the north, north-eastern regions and some parts of the country for the next 24 hours and it may continue.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajhahi and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, Jessore and Chuadanga and it may continue", said the forecast beginning from 9am.
A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal to Northwest Bay across southwestern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few places over Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 37.3°C at Rajshahi and minimum temperature on Friday was recorded 23.8°C at Bandarban.
The highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am on Friday was recorded 96mm at Koyra of Khulna District.
The sun sets at 06:47pm on Friday and rises at 05:11am on Saturday.
