Journalist Borhan Uddin Muzakkir has died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after getting shot in the neck.
The 25-year-old journalist was critically wounded in a clash between supporters of Basurhat municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and supporters of former upazila chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal in Noakhali's Companiganj on Friday.
He was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of DMCH early Saturday.
He breathed his last around 11pm on Saturday while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of DMCH.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said the deceased’s body was kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
DMCH emergency department Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Alauddin said Muzakkir was admitted to ICU as he was in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds in the neck.
Muzakkir was the Companiganj correspondent of the daily Bangladesh Samachar.
