Bangladeshi honoured in Australia for promoting peace

Dr Shahjahan Khan, a community leader of Bangladeshi origin in the Australian city of Toowoomba, has received formal recognition for promoting peace in the Muslim community. "Toowoomba Islamic leader Dr Shahjahan Khan has been formally recognised for his work in promoting peace in the community," said a report published on Wednesday in Australian regional newspaper The Chronicle, according to BSS. The award was conferred at the fourth annual iftar-dinner meeting of the Queensland Police Service held at the Greek Club Restaurant in South Brisbane. A former teacher of Dhaka University, Dr. Khan is the founding Professor of Statistics at the University of Southern Queensland. He is a former president of the Islamic Countries Society of Statistical Sciences and the founding chief editor of the Journal of Applied Probability and Statistics. Dr. Khan hails from Pukhuria in Gopalganj, Bangladesh.
