River ports are asked to hoist cautionary signal number two as squally weather may occur over some regions of the country in the next few hours till 6pm on Friday.
“In association with rain or thundershowers temporary west or north-westerly, squalls speed 60-80 kilometers per hour (kph) is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar till 6pm of today (Friday),” said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) release on Friday morning.

The meteorological department also predicted rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind at many places of the country in the next 24-hours as of 9am on Saturday.
“Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places and hails at isolated places,” said a met office bulletin issued on Friday.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.
The highest temperature yesterday was recorded 34°C at Satkhira and Jessore in Khulna division and Friday’s minimum temperature was 21°C at Tangail, Rangamati and Bhola in Dhaka, Chittagong and Barisal division respectively.
Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6am on Friday was recorded 52 millimeters (mm) at Madaripur in Dhaka division.
The sun sets at 6:27pm on Friday and rises at 5:23am on Saturday in Dhaka.
