Update : 31 May 2025, 01:51 PM

River ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur in different parts of the country.

The warning for inland river ports will remain valid till 6pm on Saturday, according to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind with speeds of 45–60kph are likely to occur over the regions of Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet, wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one," the Met office bulletin added.

In another BMD bulletin, maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to lower signals as squally weather is unlikely over all maritime ports, the North Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of the country.
