Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said they want to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections.
She made the statement when US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met her at her hotel suite on Friday, reports UNB.
"During the meeting, we discussed our election system. We have already approved the EVM project (at Ecnec meeting) and we want EVMs to be used," she told while addressing a press conference in New York.
Talking about the meeting, the prime minister said Rohingya issue, bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA, and the cooperation on counter-terrorism were discussed.
She said the United States want a democratic system to continue in Bangladesh and the elections be held here in a fair manner.
