Gold prices drop again in Bangladesh

Silver prices have also been reduced

Update : 27 Mar 2026, 10:52 AM

The price of gold in Bangladesh has been reduced once more.

The cost of top-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has dropped by Tk6,590, bringing the new price to Tk234,855.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) said the adjustment comes after a fall in the price of pure gold in the local market. The new rates took effect from 10am on Friday.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting of Bajus’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, according to a notice signed by the committee's chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

Under the revised rates, 22-carat hallmarked gold is priced at Tk20,135 per gram, 21-carat at Tk19,220 per gram, and 18-carat at Tk16,475 per gram. Traditional-style gold ornaments are set at Tk13,415 per gram.

Bajus also revised silver prices: 22-carat silver is Tk460 per gram, 21-carat Tk440, 18-carat Tk380, and traditional-style silver Tk428 per gram.

The new rates will apply across all jewellery shops nationwide until further notice. Buyers must pay the 5% government-mandated VAT, which is to be deposited into the treasury.
