The new prices took effect from 10am

Update : 12 Mar 2026, 10:59 AM

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has decided to reduce gold prices in the local market after two consecutive increases.

Under the new decision, the price of gold has been reduced by Tk3,324 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The information was disclosed in a Bajus notification issued on Thursday.

The new prices took effect from 10am the same day.

According to the revised rates set by BAJUS, the price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk267,106 per bhori in the local market.

The price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk254,975 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk218,583 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method has been set at Tk178,401 per bhori.

Bajus said the prices were adjusted after considering the overall market situation as the price of acid gold, or pure gold, declined in the local market.

The latest decision comes after two consecutive price hikes, and market insiders believe the reduction may bring some relief following the recent upward trend.

According to Bajus data, gold prices in the country have been adjusted 41 times so far this year—raised 26 times and reduced 15 times.

In 2025, gold prices were adjusted a total of 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 reductions.
