Bengal Club maintain solo lead in Premier Division Chess

Bengal Chess Club continued their solo lead at the top of the Premier Division Chess League 2017 after beating reigning champion Saif Sporting Club by 2.5-1.5 points in the 10th and penultimate round in Dhaka Monday.

Grandmaster Niaz Murshed and Georgian GM Paichadze Luka of Bengal Chess Club defeated Russian GM Aleksey Goganov and GM Enamul Hossain Razib of Saif Sporting Club in their respective matches while GM Ziaur Rahman of Saif Sporting Club beat Women’s International Master Shamima Akter Liza of Bengal Chess Club. Bengal Chess Club's Georgian GM Mchedlishvili Mikheil drew with Ukrainian GM Kravtsiv Martyn in the other tie.

Bengal Chess Club are leading the points table with 17 points from 10 games while Saif Sporting Club are placed second with 16 points. Bangladesh Navy are third with 14 points, followed by Sheikh Russel Chess Club, who have 13 points.
