Update : 25 Dec 2024, 10:12 PM

A photography training course was held by the Training Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. 15 trainees from the coolie community participated in this training.

An exhibition was held on Tuesday evening with photos taken by their own mobile phones after the 3-day training. Around 200 photos were displayed next to the platform of Kamalapur Railway Station. The exhibition showcases the daily lives of workers and passengers of different professions.

Shilpakala Academy Director General Dr Syed Jamil Ahmed went to Kamalapur Railway Station to inspect the photography exhibition on the closing day. He exchanged views with everyone during the visit and listened to their thoughts.

The Director General had earlier said about this diverse training for different communities,

“They have learned how to use the weapons that are necessary to express artistic language.

We have only seen them from the perspective of the ‘educated’ and ‘middle class’. We can also bring about an artistic revolution through the so-called 'working class’ people. We have seen how they want to see their lives through this training and exhibition.”

“We will tell our story, photography training for the working people” started at Kamalapur Railway Station on December 22, every day from 10 am to 5 pm.

In the next program, photography training will be held with domestic workers at Segun Bagicha on December 28-30. Later, an exhibition will be organized at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with the photographs collected with the participation of all these people. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has plans to expand this program to the district level, including working people and teenagers.
