Meghagomprio to stage 'Baddhovumi' at 'Chamber of Being' festival

Directed by Nahid Nirob, the production explores resistance, moral sacrifice and psychological struggle during World War II

Update : 22 Apr 2026, 06:16 PM

Meghagomprio Theatre Company will stage Baddhovumi, an adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre’s Morts sans sépulture by Masud Karim, on April 26, 2026, at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as part of the three-day multidisciplinary festival Chamber of Being.

Directed by Nahid Nirob, Baddhovumi offers a harrowing exploration of resistance and moral sacrifice during World War II. The play follows five French resistance fighters captured in an attic, centring on their brutal psychological and physical struggle as they protect their leader’s identity from Nazi captors.

The story reaches a tragic climax when the youngest member is killed by his own companions to prevent betrayal, while another commits suicide to avoid breaking under torture. Despite a desperate attempt to deceive the enemy with a false confession, the remaining three survivors face a grim fate when their captors break their word.
