The first Dhaka DocImpact Lab was hosted at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi. The three day lab concluded on Sunday. The main purpose of the event was to empower and encourage documentary filmmakers from South Asia.
The first edition of the DDIL featured a three-day workshop, which featured six upcoming documentary films including "Wating for Winter" by Farid Ahmed, "Doprujhiri" by Asma Beethe, "Embracing Fatherhood" by Partha Sarathi Sen Gupta, "Aanda Story" by Md Shakawat Hossen, "Pankauri" by Jafar Muhammad and "Songs of Sunflower" by Abid Sarker Shohag.
The filmmakers were awarded certificates at the end of the ceremony where they talked about their work.
Participating documentary filmmaker Asma Beethe said: "The film titled 'Doprujhiri' revolves around a waterfall and village by the same name in Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Mro population collect fresh water from it. The film explores the impact of human-caused environmental changes on the people of the village,’
The lab completion certificates were handed out by Dhaka DocLab director Tareq Ahmed, trustee board member Luva Nahid Chowdhury and Dhaka DocImpact Lab director Rahi Hasan on June 9.
