‘Monir–A Portrait of an Artist’ , a film based on Bangladeshi-Spanish artist Monirul Islam was screened at the Liberation War Museum, Agargaon on June 24.

"Monir–A Portrait of an Artist", a film based on Bangladeshi-Spanish artist Monirul Islam was screened at the Liberation War Museum, Agargaon on June 24. 

The director Ashique Mostafa had this to say about the concept behind the movie, “As I followed Monir filming for over five years. We developed a bond, I had the opportunity to capture some very intimate and in-depth moments of his life. I find it inspiring how Monir who migrated to Spain, became a universal spirit unbound by country or culture, or religion. My goal was to capture that journey.”

The producer for the film was Rubaiyat Hossain. She previously directed movies like Meherjaan, Shimu: Made in Bangladesh among others. 

Monirul Islam is a contemporary artist of Bangladeshi origin. He has received many awards, including: National Award of Spain, Commander Spanish Order of Merit, Cross of Officer of the Order of Queen Isabella, and Ekushey Padak of Bangladesh.
