Dhaka Art Summit to begin at Shilpakala

The largest art exhibition in Bangladesh, Dhaka Art Summit is back this year with the theme ‘Bonna’

The commencement of the 6th edition of Dhaka Art Summit (DAS), the largest exhibition platform for art and architecture in Bangladesh, is going to be held on February 3, 2023 at National Art Gallery, Shilpakala Academy. The theme for this edition is ‘Bonna (flood)'.

On February 1, at Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium, Nadia Samdani MBE and Mr. Rajeeb Samdani of Samdani Art Foundation unveiled the details of the art summit in a press conference.

Both local and international artists will participate in the event. The event will feature the works of 12 Bangladeshi artists whose artworks are based on social, economic and environmental themes. At the same time, climate change, gender relations, and different generations will also be few of the major subjects of the event.

The event will have Salman F. Rahman, the prime minister's private sector and investment adviser as the chief guest for the opening ceremony on February 3. Other special guests include KM Khalid, State Minister for Culture, Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Nadia Samdani MBE, Director of Dhaka Art Summit and President of Samdani Art Foundation, Rajeeb Samdani, Trustee of Dhaka Art Summit and Samdani Art Foundation, Mohammad Saker Shamim, Managing Director & CEO of Golden Harvest Agro Industries Limited.

Artists participating in the 6th edition of the Art Summit include – Sumaiya Vali, Antony Gromley, Asfika Rahman, Vinodbihari Mukherjee, Bhasha Chakraborty, Chitraprasad, Daniel Boyd, Damasus Hacha, Faisal Zaman, Ganesh Paini, Ghazaleh Avarzamani, Habik Chuhen, Habiba Nowroz, Jamal Ahmed, Jaydev Roja, Jani Rusika, Kabir Ahmed Masum Chishti, Kamruzzaman Swadhan, Lala Rukh, Lapdiang Saiyem, Marina Perez Simao, Nabil Ahmed, Nazmun Nahar Kaya, Paul Taburet, Rupali Gupta and Prasad Shetty, Purnima Akhtar, Rafiqun Nabi, Safiuddin Ahmed, Sahej Rahal, Tanya Goyal, Veronica Hapchenko, Yasmin Jahan Nupur, Rizvi Hasan, Ganesh Pine and others.

Dhaka Art Summit will be open to all from February 3 to February 11, from 10 am to 8 pm.
