Kamar Ahmad Simon recently shared “Anyadin…” (Day after…) being officially selected at the Camden International Film Festival in his Facebook page, mentioned as the ‘Oscar Campaign Hotspot’ by the Variety Magazine. Now the film has also been selected in one of the prime North American festivals, Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).
“Anyadin…” is one of the 8 films that will compete in Camden’s best film award, Harrell Awards, this year. This year, 135 features and 102 shorts from 75 countries have been selected in VIFF. Last November, “Anyadin…” was invited to the main competition of IDFA, one of the Top-10 festivals in the world. Earlier in March, “Anyadin…” was the first Bengali film in the selection of 18 films in First Look Festival of New York’s Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI). “Anyadin…” was also invited to Sydney Film Festival last June, where Kamar was a Jury in the Australian segment.
The film had won the grant award winner of 2014’s Sundance Film Festival. The director was also featured as the red carpet director in Piazza Grande in Locarno Film Festival in 2016. He also received the highest award in the Open Doors section along with Arte International Prize. He also received an exclusive invitation from Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
IDFA quoted the film as “Kaleidoscopic” and “Philosophical” in its website. Australia’s leading film magazine #FilmInk says the film deserves the biggest screen possible. Screen Daily wrote ‘Seductive’ in its review on ‘Anyadin…’'and Variety wrote “Good humored but conscientious film”.
While the international media is writing reviews, Kamar is yet to disclose any plot of ‘Anyadin…’ to Bangladeshi media. When asked about “Anyadin…” release in Bangladesh, Kamar mentioned about his attempt to submit the film for censor before heading to Camden.
